The DFW Hungarian community surprised Fr. Julius Leloczky with a bronze memorial plaque, on the 68th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.

In the scorching heat of the Texas summer, amid the excitement of the beginning of the new school year, DFW Hungarians gathered to commemorate King St. Stephen and the Feast of the New Bread.

The second Texas Diaspora School Camp took place March 16-19 at Twin Lakes YMCA Camp near Austin. The event was made possible again through the cooperation of three Hungarian organizations and their volunteers: HACA Houston, MMCC of Dallas, and Hungarians of Austin.

This year, our goal was to encourage the Hungarians in North Texas not to let the events of 1956, and heroes of the revolution be forgotten, I asked those present at the event to be sure to tell everyone’s children and grandchildren about it and not just read about it on Wikipedia’s filtered pages.  As Hungarians, let them be proud of their grandparents, uncles, and other family members who contributed to the pages of history!

The Weekend Hungarian language and history classes will come to an end on September 24.
