It is an excellent reading for everyone who wishes to understand the tragic events that took place 101 years ago in Hungary. The book describes the events leading up to WWI, the chaos in Hungary that followed the war, and the “Treaty” of Trianon that meant the destruction of the historical Hungary and the devastation of the affected areas and the people involved.

When Nazi Germany occupied Hungary in Marxh 1944, it did not help Klára Karods that she was Catholic: because of her Jewish background, she was taken to Auschwitz at the age of 24. Klára survived the horror of the camp and was liberated in May 1945. Years after her return to Hungary, she wrote down her camp expreiences. This is her story.

Freedom's Courage (2020/02/22)

This bilingual book is a series of memoirs of Hungarian Freedom Fighters, who live in Texas. When the uprising was crushed, they had to flee from their beloved homeland to escape persecution. Also, included in the book are the memoirs of some individuals, who were considered enemy of the regime because of their worldviews or religious convictions, and had to endure harassment and incarceration, therefore felt like they had to leave while they could. Their stories are testaments to their Courage for Freedom. The MMCC volunteers collected and published them as a tribute to their local heroes. Közel az éghez by Ede Véssey

Ede Véssey's second book of poetry was published by Kráter Műhely Egyesület for the 2018 Festive Book Week in Budapest, with the title "Közel az éghez" ("Close to the heavens"). The volume can be purchased at several Hungarian online booksellers (e.g. www.krater.hu, www.libri.hu, www.bookline.hu, etc.).Ede Véssey was born in 1948 in Budapest. He and his family have been living in the USA since 1984. He is a founding member of the Metroplex Magyar Cultural Circle, and he served as Treasurer for several years.
