2025 Summer Hungarian Language Courses (2025/09/27)

On September 20, 2025, we celebrated the conclusion of the 10-week summer Hungarian language courses organized by the Metroplex Magyar Cultural Circle (MMCC) with the support of the Bethlen Gabor Foundation. 

On this occasion, we celebrated the end of the beginner group’s 10-week program, while the advanced group will complete their program at the end of October. The courses generally attracted local participants who are connected to Hungary in some way. It is common that their spouse is Hungarian, or their grandparents came from Hungary, and they wish to become closer to the Hungarian language and culture.

The lessons included weekly grammar topics, reading exercises, and vocabulary building. At the end of each class, a short history lesson was also included, aimed at giving students a broader picture of Hungary’s rich history. During the Saint Stephen’s Day celebrations, the students proudly showcased their talents and newly acquired Hungarian language skills – by reading poems by Sándor Kányádi and Anikó Juhászné Bérces. In the last history lesson of this year, the students studied the events of the 1956 Revolution.

Since this was the 10th week of the course, the event was closed in a special way.
Éva Beluska, as the president of the MMCC and also the Hungarian language classes volunteer teacher, invited the students and teachers to her home for a traditional Hungarian lunch. Thanks to the rich Hungarian menu, the event was not only the closing of the course, but also a valuable gastronomy experience for the participants.

At the end of the celebration, the students and teachers received certificates of recognition for their dedication and achievements.

Thanks to the support of the Bethlen Gábor Foundation, the MMCC was able to offer Hungarian language courses at both beginner and advanced levels during the summer months. In the autumn and winter months, it plans to provide beginner-level classes tailored to children, as well as advanced conversation and grammar classes for adults.
