MMCC Celebrated Hungary's Birthday on August 24, 2025 (2025/09/17)
The MMCC once again celebrated Hungary’s birthday, August 24, 2025.

The celebration began with a Hungarian-language Holy Mass and the blessing of the New Bread at the Cistercian Abbey church, followed by a pot luck lunch and a commemorative program in the school cafeteria.
During the program, we remembered Saint Stephen, the founding king of Hungary and introduced the students of our free weekend Hungarian language and history classes offered by the MMCC. Filled with pride, they recited Anikó Bérces’ poem “August 20” and Dezső Kosztolányi’s poem “Grandmother’s Bread” in Hungarian. The Hungarian audience listened with admiration and rewarded them with cheers and warm applause.
The commemorative program concluded with a 90-minute musical performance entitled “Homesickness,” in which our guests from Hungary, actor and theater director János Perjés recited poetry, while Rezső Kutik sang and played the guitar.
For our community, this celebration was not only a historical commemoration, but also a great opportunity to enjoy the togetherness and friendship of their fellow Hungarians and also their American friends and relatives.
