2023 St. Stephen (2023/08/20)

In the scorching heat of the Texas summer, amid the excitement of the beginning of the new school year, DFW Hungarians gathered to commemorate King St. Stephen and the Feast of the New Bread.

2023 St. Stephen

We all heard the stories again about King St. Stephen and the blessing of the New Bread (see the presentation), but the highlight of the event was 9 year old Panna Kálmán’s recitation of a beautiful poem written for this special day (watch the video).

It was a great pleasure to see and hear the involvement of youngsters and children at our event as they carry on our traditions and national identity! Congratulations Panna!

Surprisingly, at least a dozen new Hungarians, who moved here from other cities or states celebrated with us. We gladly welcomed them to our ranks and are thankful they found us!

Befittingly, Father Gyula shared with us about the Bread of Hungarians Program. We ask all compatriots to assist in supporting this noble outreach and help those children and families in need.

Thank you all for your help, participation, the delicious food, but most of all for your friendship!
