2022 Mayfest (2022/05/07)

Before the guests arrived, several people had already erected the traditional May Pole – which wasn’t an easy task! It had to be tall and worthy of Texas! The colorful ribbons flying high in the wind was a beautiful sight and filled our hearts with joy. While the preparations for the event started weeks earlier, the highlight of the day was the cooking and savoring of the Bogrács Gulyás which was done on site. Hopefully everyone got to taste some.

The Lángos frying could not be missed either. Even though the girls tried to fry them as fast as possible, there were still long lines snaking around the stand eagerly anticipating the treats! The reputation of DFW Majalis’ has reached some distant areas. Guests came from Tyler, Austin, Houston, and other cities! We hope they had a good time – it was worth the long journey.

Our Vice-Consul from Houston, Gábor Markocsány, was also present. He said goodbye to us, as he will leave for Toronto, Canada where he will represent Hungary for the next few years. The fun lasted for several hours, but in the heat, even eating and drinking became exhausting!

By the time evening arrived, the children were tired, the crowd dispersed, and everyone left with a lasting memory. The pictures speak for themselves, all smiles and laughs. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed this traditional Texas Majális.
