March 15 Commemoration (2022/03/20)

The 1848/49 Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight‘s 174th anniversary was commemorated by the DFW Hungarians on Sunday, March 20th. in the Cistercian Preparatory School’s cafeteria.

March 15 Commemoration

The usual opening with the singing of the two (Hungarian and American) national anthems, seemed to be more meeningful this time, as we expressed our support to the Ukranian people who are fighting for their personal and their county’s survival.

This year there we talked about the importance of achieving and maintaining a country’s independendence. It was befitting to highlight the Hungarian freedom fight through a short slide show presentation about it. The presentation listed the significant battles of the freedom fight, illustrated with pictures and maps.

During the social time we enjoyed the delicious traditional Hungarian meals in each other’s company, and talked about the  hardships endured in the past two years, the current problems we are all still facing, and expressed our hope for a brighter future.
