Hungarian Commemoration of 1848/49 Revolution (2019/03/16)

It was a wonderful celebration, with an uplifting program, lots of good old and new friends, good food but most of all lots of happy faces.

Fr. Julius delivered his beautiful and very informative speech with poise about the ides of March, sprinkled with some contemporary photos on the slideshow.

Everyone was surprised to hear a story from 16 year-old young American, Sandor Baldwin and how he was named  Sandor by his American parents who had been inspired by Petofi Sandor.

The hero of the day was 10 year-old Kornel Kalman, who recited the entire National Song by our national revolutionary  poet, Petofi Sandor. The audience got so involved, they repeated the cantilena of each verse with him.

The culmination of the event was the joy the children’s choir brought to all the guests. Emily' solo singing and Kornel's flute accompaniment made it all very special.

The program ended with Ede Vessey's  contemporary poem, a paraphrase of the National Song - read by the writer himself.
