2019 Mayfest-Report (2018/05/04)

We had another successful Hungarian May Fest organized by the Metroplex Magyar Cultural Circle (MMCC).

Thanks to all the guests, who in spite of the gloomy weather forecast, had faith and came to the event. Then the Sun came out, and everyone could enjoy the great outdoors. The kids had a great time in the bouncy house, the volunteer goulash cooks could do their magic outside on open fire. Besides the smoke, they filled the air with the mouthwatering aroma of the goulash and other Hungarian meals, like beef shank stew. This year for the first time we had two Americans joining us, one cooked goulash, the other made a big pot of delicious venison chili! Their bravery to dare to compete with the Hungarian experts deserves admiration.

The yummy desserts and the Langosh fried on the spot completed the Majalis menu.

Those who could stay late, had the privilege to join in or just listen to the bonfire singalong.

It was very beautiful, filled our hearts and soul with joy to hear all the popular Hungarian songs we all grew up with.

Events like this require a lot of planning and hard work. We are grateful to all those who donated their time and energy to make this Hungarian Mayfest happen.

We hope that in the future, we’ll be able to organize similar celebrations for the DFW Hungarians and our American friends.

Eva Beluska,
MMCC president
