2026 St. Stephen’s Day Celebration

Sunday, August 30, 2026
4:00 P.M. - Hungarian Holy Mass at the Cistercian Abbey Church, honoring Saint Stephen, the founding King of Hungary.

5:00 P.M. - The celebration continues in the Cistercian Preparatory School lunchroom where in recognition of America's 250th Anniversary, we will present the story of Michael Kovats de Fabriczy (often simply Michael Kovats (1724 –1779) was a Hungarian nobleman and cavalry officer who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Kovats and his friend General Casimir Pulaski are together known as the "Founding Fathers of the US Cavalry".

We will also play a short video presentation - Ardere et Lucere - about the Cistercian abbeys of Zirc, Hungary and Dallas, Texas.

The program will be followed by Father Julius's traditional Blessing of the New Bread and a potluck dinner.
