Leila Ditta Hargitai Biography
Born in the Netherlands in 2003 and raised in Hungary from the age of two, Leila Ditta Hargitai began her musical journey at just four years old. She received her early training at the Zoltán Kodály Music Primary School and later at the Aladár Tóth Secondary Music School in Budapest. She studied under Professor Gábor Eckhardt. In 2021, she was admitted to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with top marks, where she continued her studies with András Kemenes and Attila Némethy. After earning her bachelor's degree in 2024, Leila began her master’s studies under Dénes Várjon and was invited to participate in the prestigious Piano Texas International Festival & Academy in May 2025 at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas. Leila is happy to share her music with the local Hungarian community as a gesture of gratitude for the support she received during her visit.
Leila is a multiple international prizewinner, including accolades from New York’s Carnegie Hall, Tel Aviv, and Italy’s Liszt Piano Competition. She has performed with the Budapest Strings Orchestra and appeared in prestigious venues such as the Budapest Music Center and the Hungarian Opera Theater. Leila is well on her way to a major career in music
Her competitions and concert appearances in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020 were supported by Hungary’s National Talent Program.
Competitions and awards:
2014: 1st prize in the 4th International Piano Festival 1st prize in the 11th Zoltán Kodály Solfeggio and Singing Competition 1st prize in the 4th International Béla Bartók Music School Piano Competition
2015: 2nd prize in the 5th Music Bridge International Youth Instrumental Competition; 3rd prize and Ferenczy Award for the best Chopin performance in the 7th György Ferenczy National Piano Competition.
2016: 2nd prize in the 14th National Piano Competition; 1st prize in the Duet category of the National Eszterházy Chamber Singing Competition; 3rd prize in the National Solo Singing Competition
2017: 1st prize and special award in the song category in the 12th National Zoltán Kodály Solfeggio and Singing Competition.
2018: 1st prize in the 4th International Piano Festival
2019: 1st prize and Magda Veroszta Award in the 15th National Piano Competition.
2020: online Anniversary concert – works of J. S. Bach, L. van Beethoven, R. Schumann, M. Ravel, A. Scriabin New York Liszt Institute – solo recital Stockholm, Hungarian Embassy – chamber music concert
2021: 2nd prize Odin International Music Competition Estonia;
2022: 1st prize American Protégé International Music Competition and Recital in New York Carnegie Hall
2023: 2nd prize at Scherzo International Piano Competition in Tel-Aviv
2024: 2nd prize at Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Grottammare, Italy Concerts with Budapest Strings Orchestra at the Óbuda Music Festival; Season-closing concert of the Budapest Music Schools at the Budapest Music Center; 115-year-old Aladár Tóth Music School Gala Concert at the Budapest Opera Theater; Young Talents concert in the Anna Jókai Hall; Chopin’s four ballad concert in the hall of Óbuda Society, Budapest.
