2022 Commemoration of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution (2022/10/23)

The Mass will begin at 3:00 P.M. followed by the ceremonial laying of a wreath at the Kopjafa memorial at the front of the church. The commemoration will continue with a short program and potluck dinner in the school’s dining room: 3550 Cistercian Rd, Irving, TX 75039.

This year we created a 1956 Memorial Fund. By donating to this fund, you can help to cover the cost of the maintenance and long-term care of this beautifully carved, Szekler style,1956 Monument. Donations can be made through the MMCC website: www.magyarszo.net (please make a note that it is for the 1956 Memorial Fund). All donations are deeply appreciated and acknowledged with a tax-deductible receipt.

As time goes by, more of our 56-er friends are passing. Although we keep their memory in our hearts, we should not stop there. It is our duty to make sure future generations remain aware of the history of the 1956 revolution so that they can be proud of their grandparents or relatives who, in many cases, gave their lives for the defeat of communism in order to have a free life!

At the commemoration, you will have an opportunity to purchase the book, “Courage for Freedom.” Written in both Hungarian and English, which was published by the MMCC in 2016.

Also, for a voluntary contribution, you may choose from additional books. Those proceeds will also go to the 1956 Memorial Fund.

Since our organization is funded by membership fees, donations from the community, and operated by volunteers – we are grateful for any and all donations, regardless of the amount as well as any volunteer participation!
